More false advertising by the Biffers

We had a quick butcher’s at the Biffer Facebook page the other day. That’s their preferred environment for ‘…doin’ politics, innit?’ They still haven’t worked out that false, paid for likes from foreign clickfarms (they click you long time!) aren’t the same as actual votes. But occasionally, just sometimes they crawl out from under their seedy little rock and head off into the real world. A bit like this…

As usual the turnout was tiny but that’s not the important thing. Have a look at the little bald biffer with glasses in the front row. His jacket isn’t quite the same colour as the usual Biffer ‘bottle-out’ green. There’s a reason for that.

Here we see the same sad fash wannabe from the back. His jacket isn’t ‘bottle-out’ green because it’s representing a genuine heroes’ charity. But what’s a ‘Help for Heroes’ jacket doing on a Britain First ‘Day of action’?

We’ve asked Help for heroes. We’ll let you know their reply.

Britain First and the history of European Nazism

The problem with making historical comparisons is they’re never precise enough to satisfy the pedants and rarely obvious enough to catch the attention of most people. That’s because the majority of us have enough to deal with just coping with the necessities of everyday living. People haven’t time to go around studying political history and most don’t have the inclination to search for comparisons and similarities between modern UK and the worst of European thought.

EBF understands that. We know that to many this article will seem like an over-reaction to current events. But we think it important that we highlight the broad trends of 21st century ideologies even if the exact details differ from the precise events of the past. Modern Europe is very different from that of 80 or 90 years ago. Mass communication is easier and less controlled which accelerates the speed of social change. Deceitful propaganda is more easily spread and ideas, even dangerous ones can take hold of a population like wildfire.

EBF BF Wake up and rise up.pngBut people are still essentially the same. Their fears are the same, their vulnerability to manipulative ideologues is the same and their tendency to look for scapegoats to blame is the same. Our species hasn’t evolved at all in a few decades. We are as we were and what we were was frightening.

In 1920s Germany economic hardship was rife. People were literally starving to death as food became more and more expensive and wages, even for those lucky enough to be employed at all couldn’t keep up. Many felt hopeless and helpless.

In post 2007 Europe whole countries went bankrupt and others, like UK saw the weakest citizens, those suffering from disabling conditions or those who were unable to find work stripped of their incomes, sanctioned by civil servants or forced to work for nothing to ease the wage burden on large companies like Tesco, Asda and even’ the Biffers’ favourite’ – Gregg’s the baker’s. Many argue that this was little more than state-sponsored slavery designed to increase private, corporate profits at the expense of the public purse as several employers cut jobs, replacing paid employees with unskilled, forced (workfare) labour instead. Many at the bottom rungs of society felt hopeless and helpless.

In Post WW1 Germany a group of veterans calling themselves the Frei Corp (Free Army) began releasing propaganda explaining that Germany’s predicament was all the fault of international Jewry. This wasn’t true but it suited the emotional need of some of the people to scapegoat someone other than themselves.

In post-recession UK groups like Britain First began releasing propaganda blaming Muslims for all the country’s problems. This isn’t true either but it suits the emotional need of some of the people to scapegoat someone other than themselves.

In 1920s Germany Adolf Hitler joined a small group of far right nationalists and quickly rose to prominence within what was one day to become the Nazi party.

In 2010 a relatively minor official in the British National Party (a far right nationalist group) broke away from the party to form his own rival group – Britain First.

In 1920s Germany the government largely ignored the Nazis. They were only one of many far right factions and they seemed too busy fighting amongst themselves to be of any significance.

In 2010 the UK government largely ignored Britain First. They were only one of many far right factions and they seemed too busy fighting amongst themselves to be of any significance.

In 1920s Germany Hitler’s Nazi party made very little impact. The demonstrations they held were violent armed conflicts and so the authorities eventually acted. When Hitler tried to begin an armed revolution and held hostage two government officials he was overwhelmed, tried and imprisoned for sedition.

In modern UK, Britain First incites violence against Muslims and immigrants but Golding et al have learned from history and never personally involve themselves in such crimes.

In 1930s Germany the Frei Corp became the Brown Shirts – the organised street fighters who persecuted Jews – their most infamous incident was ‘The night of broken glass’ or ‘Kristalnacht’ during which Jewish homes, businesses and synagogues were attacked in a domestic atrocity ordered by Hitler himself.

In modern UK we have not seen anything on the scale of Kristalnacht yet. We have however seen attacks against Muslim shops, Mosques and businesses, including arson and several Muslim deaths. At least one 81 year old Muslim was beaten to death by Britain First supporters whilst on his way to his local Mosque for morning prayers.

From the 1920s onwards Hitler and his cronies used dehumanising propaganda to isolate and encourage violence against German Jews.

From 2010 onwards Britain First has used dehumanising propaganda to isolate and encourage violence against British Muslims.

EBF BF Nazi dehumanisation

The German Nazis relied upon nationalism and a sense of ‘taking back control’ to fuel their hatred.

Britain First relies upon nationalism and a sense of ‘taking back control’ to fuel its hatred.

BBC3 BF WWOCB Title page

The internet and the speed with which social media spreads ideas around means that the popular nationalism that took the Nazis 15 years to achieve has taken Britain First with its social media savvy operation a third of that time. What they lack is political clout but there’s time for that and they’re certainly trying hard.

And it’s not just Britain First. There are other, equally disturbing groups at work in the UK. Nationalists organisations echo the same message of hate. Groups like the English Defence League and countless others also rely upon the same propaganda to fuel a nationalism that seems hell bent on taking this country back to a past that only really existed in their imaginations. Respectable political groups like UKIP seem almost to legitimise the nationalist agenda and may well be the key to political influence for all the other nationalist groups.

Brexit send them back T shirt

It’s no coincidence that ‘Vote UKIP’ is a common refrain from the racist nationalists we interact with across social media. Britain First is unlikely to gain any political power but that doesn’t mean they can’t support UKIP. Golding and Fransen have already created something like a Frei Corp in waiting. Their own website describes Britain First as a ‘Street defence organisation’ and their regular calls for civil war against Muslims and their (admittedly laughable as yet) attempts to train their members in combat skills seems to point very clearly in one particular direction. Might they become UKIP’s Brown shirts in time?

EBF BF fight club

If the problem was only UK based that might be less of a concern but similair trends can be seen across Europe. Some countries are further along this dark path and it’s not hard to see where we’re all being driven. This week in Austria a far right party using the slogan ‘Austria First’ (there’s a coincidence) narrowly failed to become the ruling political party in the country’s national election.

EBF BF Austria far right Nazi election.pngIn the style of their Austrian predecessor, Adolf Hitler they are now forcing a new election. Hitler’s Nazi party also forced elections until they got the result they wanted. We’d hoped that Austrians would know better, given their country’s part in WW2 but seemingly not. Like Brits and many other European nationals they have short memories. It remains to be seen how prophetic the result of the UK’s recent ‘Brexit’ referendum may be. The result (48% v 52%) is strikingly close to the Austrian result after a campaign that was fought much more along nationalist and racist lines than any other issue. We believe that there is very real cause for concern both here in the UK and abroad.

Holland, a country defeated by the Nazis and subjected to all the horrors of occupation is currently seeing the rise of its own brand of Nationalism. Even Germany, the birthplace of Pegida has a growing number of fascists within its population. Similair stories can be told about many Western nations from Scandinavia to the Mediterranean. The far right hasn’t won yet but it’s making remarkably good headway.

There’s still time to turn this around. Please help us to spread the word and stop the neo-Nazis from dragging us back into the darkness of former decades.

An open letter to Britain First by Kit

Reuters Jo Cox MemorialI can completely understand why there is so much anger directed towards you, Britain First at the suggestion your party could be implicated in such a brutal murder. It is a perfectly reasonable assumption for most people that your poisonous ideology could have consumed a person to such an extent, it’s led to loss of life. But whether you are indirectly involved or not, you need to take a look at WHY people have made assumptions about you.

Britain First, this should be a wake up call for you. The reason so many people jumped to conclusions is because of the hate and lies you swamp social media with every single day. You use vile and threatening language towards your opposition. You have threatened to hang people you label ‘traitors’. You have described MP’s as ‘creatures’ and you have threatened some of them with ‘direct action’. You post up publicity stunts where you deliberately provoke communities and start the camera rolling when you get a reaction.

You deliberately mislead your followers by posting videos without source, context or dates and you delete comments pointing out the facts. You have created an echo chamber by deleting dissent but leave up disgusting, hateful and often threatening comments. You use military terms such as “foot soldiers” to describe members of your political party and wear uniform. You’ve videoed yourselves attending an “activist training camp” and you have begged for donations to set up fight clubs. You use terms such as “rise up”, “fight back” and post hundreds of images relating to war. You are encouraging violence!

You can no longer try to distance yourselves from assumptions people make about your organisation. You cannot escape the depth of feeling people have towards you. You cannot blame anyone other than yourselves for the assumptions people are making. You may or may not have blood on your hands this time but it’s only a matter a time before you do.

Stop the propaganda, stop the lies and stop the hate. Most importantly, you need to accept responsibility for your actions and change now.

Scouting’s for boys – not for Biffers

Baden Powell was a true patriot. He was an accomplished soldier and founder of the Boy Scout movement. The Boy scout idea sprang from observing the boys of the Mafeking Cadet Force, children too young to fight who supported military operations as part of their own, separate organisation.

On his return to England Baden Powell was delighted to learn that his ideas gained some traction and he organised the first ever scout camp in 1907. The event was a success and the rest is history.

Baden Powell, founder of the Scouting movement had a dream. He wanted to help turn boys into men. He did so by teaching discipline, respect and ‘scout craft’ – a set of ideas based loosely around the Native American practices of ‘wood craft’. Then as now, countless boys and girls across the world learn the skills that will help fit them to take their place in the adult world. The Boy Scout movement, aliong with its sister movement, the Girl Guides is the domain for children with big dreams. It is not the domain of adults with low aspirations and hate-filled hearts. In short, it’s not for Biffers!

EBF BF Walts camping trip wales terrorist training camp

Last weekend a sorry bunch of wannabe soldiers tried their hand at camping out in Wales. They want us to believe that these hardened survivalists were there honing their skills in preparation for some imaginary resistance operation. They want us to think that they are the last best hope for the survival of Britain. Well, if that’s true, God help us all.

The truth is that this rather sad, sorry, bedraggled collection of middle-aged Walter Mitties is nothing more than a stain on the fine Welsh countryside. They’d be tragic if they weren’t so funny. Dressed in combat fatigues adorned with undeserved regalia they cut a comical sight, playing about with knives and pretending to know how to pitch the tent they bought in the Halfords sale the previous Thursday afternoon.

My youngest son is 10 years old. He’s been a cub for a few years now and is looking forward to graduating to the scouts soon. He’s been on camping trips and summer barbecues. He’s learned discipline and respect. He’s had fun running around the Cotswolds with his little friends and he’s earned more badges than I’d care to remember. I get to sew them on his increasingly theadbare sweater with depressing regularity.

I showed him the pictures of the Biffers’ survivalist weekend, out of context, of course. He’s too young to have his head filled with that sort of irrational hatred. I just downloaded the shots and asked him what he thought. He was confused at first. He didn’t recognise a single scout leader uniform. Then he decided they must be venture scouts. But no – that couldn’t be right either – they were making too many mistakes. Refreshingly for his poor old Mum he also wondered where all the girls had got to. Cubs and Scouts have moved on in the last one hundred years and the sexism of the past century has definitely been consigned to the history books – unless you’re a Biffer, of course.

The smallest member of our household then went on to explain at great length why the fire was wrong, why the tents were facing in the wrong direction, how rubbish the camp site itself was, why he wouldn’t expect these no-hopers to survive a week and how physically unfit they all seemed to his naïve little 10 year old eye.

EBF BF survival rations

He almost wet himself laughing when I informed him that these brave men were going to keep us safe when England is invaded. He took one look at the survival rations, explained how the nutrition balance was all wrong (I’ll take his word for it) and assured me that his Akela would never be so silly as to go camping with so much carbohydrate and so little protein. I’ve no idea if what he said makes nutritional sense because that’s not my strong suit but he seemed very sure of his ground.

I’d trust the word of my honest, respectful and kind-hearted little boy long before I’d rely on the lies of Biffers who really are old enough to know better. Maybe if Golding and Lomax had been Scouts they’d have learned something about integrity. Maybe they’d know how to make a half-decent job of camping out as well.

So that’s settled then. Scouting for boys is great for… well… erm… boys. Grown men playing soldiers – that’s a completely different matter!

Perhaps someone should give their heads a woggle!

A view from a barstool after a lock in

Beer 2After a weekend away from all things biffer, doing the normal things in life, like shopping, taking the kids out, seeing the in laws, you know the ones that share biffer and EDL posts and think that the world would be better putting an exclusion zone around this island of ours to keep immigrants out, watching the odd neanderthal thug being teargassed, seeing the leader of the opposition on a comedy program and agreeing with John Major (please never make me write that again) I finally got time today to go through the page and see what our lovely friends at Biffer towers are up to.

So the biffers seem to be finding google images of Muslims celebrating and trying to give the opinion that they are slowly taking over. These videos are from years ago and appear to show some pretty peaceful protests with minimal policing and no counter protesting. Maybe the biffers could give their protests up, it would save the tax payers money in the long run.

Next, although they are quick to deny any links, a white only enclave seems to have been set up in deepest Hungary by Dowson and Griffin. Could this be where Screechy has gone? No one knows. It seems strange to me that they want followers to become immigrants when they rage about them non-stop on all of Uncle Jim’s pages. There again, as the media doesn’t like calling English Immigrants or refugees I suppose I better call them ‘Ex-Pats’.

EBF BF camping Wales ban the berkI’ve seen the begging Emails from the Biffers too, although it appears no one really gives a fuck to donate to the Biffer leave cause. I have to say I’m happy my shopping didn’t run to a decorating table costing £4 faaaaasand even if the Landlady has pretty expensive tastes. We haven’t been too political in this debate but I have to say that even a few brexiters in the pub have changed sides due to the fact that the leave campaign seems to have been taken over by the far right and all they want is refugees out.

Finally a weekend camping in Wales with full Camouflage, wooden rulers and German Lager!!! My personal thoughts on this are easy, they wanted to go on a lads’ weekend and were going to book a break in Magaluf but realised their gullible disciples hadn’t put enough in their bank account for that. So they ended up on a hill in Wales. But maybe they realised that they would be as welcome there as the English hooligans are in France right now. If we saw this happening in America we’d shake our heads and think it’s just militia. And to be serious for a minute, that is what it looks like to me. Political uniforms, knife training and the rest, it would be funny if it didn’t feel so dangerous. We have been told by Moley that Carmelo was there in clear breach of his bail conditions, and Steve must have felt uneasy as there wasn’t a Greggs in sight! Maybe they were getting in practice for Britannia Fest who knows.

So thats it, my brief sojourn away from all things biffer has come to an end. Now I’m refreshed it’s time to get back to work hassling, debunking and answering your questions. I’ve managed to get a new cooker, bbq and decking for our personal garden, a couple of sun loungers for the 2 days of summer and the kids stocked up with games, toys and renewing their relationship with their dad.

Now what have those cockwombles got in store for us this week.

Cheers

My Friend Lenny

This was posted on a thread a couple of days ago. We thought as many people as possible should read it, so we decided to make it a post in it’s own right. Many thanks to John Mansfield for sharing.

“I’m banned from Britain First, but when I read some of these comments, my blood boiled, and I immediately created a new fake account, with the specific purpose of posting this. It’s a story I’ve posted on this page before several times. Regular followers may recognise it. To them, I beg your indulgence, but this sort of vile hatred gets my back right up. I have added a comment at the bottom just for the biffers.

When I first left school in 1975, I worked in the museum and art gallery in Liverpool. Most of the men who worked there were older than me. Many of them had fought in the second world war. There were stories to be told and fascinating memories to be shared. I developed a huge respect for these men and interest in their own stories. History is always more interesting when it is personal.

There was A, a man who had flown in Lancaster bombers over Germany night after night and survived despite coming close to death several times, seeing friends go down in flames, or simply not be there the following day. He had survived a crash-landing and had a steel plate in his skull. He was an alcoholic.

There was S, who had served in the navy on the Russian convoy run. He described seeing ships go down in the freezing water and being unable to stop to pick up any survivors. He remembered never wearing a life-jacket when manning his anti-aircraft gun, despite standing orders to do so, because it got in the way and would be a waste of time in water that was so cold he would last less than a minute anyway. I don’t remember ever seeing him smile.

Then there was Lenny. He was the most genial, easy-going man. Always had a cheery smile and greeting. He was always ready to help and the first to crack a joke. He was inoffensive, polite and a genuinely nice man. He had children and grandchildren who he worshipped, and ha always spoke of them with smiling eyes. He never, NEVER, EVER, lost his temper. Yes, he talked about the war as well. He had been a tank driver with The Guards Armoured Division.

Lenny told me funny stories. Like the time in Normandy when his commander had ordered an emergency fire mission to support some American infantry advancing across a neighbouring field. His tank was parked behind a large haystack and as the gunner aimed, Lenny stalled the tank on starting it. The flash from the gun set fire to the haystack, the burning hay covered the tank and they all had to bail out to extinguish the fire, then got a colossal bollocking for making the whole squadron look like idiots. He told me about driving through Antwerp during its liberation. “Never been kissed by so many girls in me life!” Someone gave him a cigar and lit it for him, then slapped him on the back. The cigar fell out of his mouth and down inside his overalls, setting fire to his underpants!

Those were Lenny’s memories. The funny, ‘Dad’s Army’ stuff.

Then, one day, some idiot was handing out some National Front literature in the canteen. He gave a leaflet to Lenny. Len stood up, glaring at the man. He said nothing for a few seconds, then screwed it up and threw it in the man’s face. He said, “you can take that filth and shove it up your f*^#ing arse!” Then he walked out. I had never heard Lenny swear before. Not so much as a “Bloody Hell” or even a “Damn”. I followed him. He was outside lighting up a cigarette, his hands shaking. I asked him if he was ok and he apologised to ME! He said, “Those fools don’t know what it means, or where it can lead”.

Later that day, when he had calmed down a bit, he told me another story. His unit had been one of the first into Belsen. He told me about the initial confusion, and being baffled by seeing people in striped pyjamas wandering by the roadside. He told me about the silent shock they all felt as they drove through the gates. He told me all about the heaps of bodies, about the dreadful, all-pervading smell, about the last German guards attempting vainly to hide the truth, about the huts full of dead, about the still living, who looked dead. He had volunteered to drive a bulldozer to bury the corpses. He did it breathing through a rag soaked in petrol, but it still didn’t mask the smell. He admitted to still not being able to sleep a whole night, without seeing it again.

The following day, he was back to normal. The genial comic, who always had something good to say and a smile for everyone. He had not an ounce of bitterness or hatred in him. He always saw the best in people and would do anything to help anyone, right up to the day he retired, which was the last time I saw him. He’s in his late 80s or early 90s now, if he’s still kicking. A lovely man.

I am a teacher now. Every Remembrance Day, I tell my students about Lenny and his stories, all of them.

He is the best example I know, of someone who has seen humanity at it’s very worst and yet, still spent the rest of his life trying to be one of the best.

He is still, and always will be, a hero to me.
