Biffer justice

I haven’t posted for a while. That’s because we took the girls up North to York for a little break. Our littlest has now decided she wants to be a Viking ‘shield maiden’ when she grows up. Why, oh why did we have to take them to the Jorvic centre?

So I haven’t had the time to write much but I have been reading – keeping up with developments over at Biffer Towers. I’ve watched with great interest the intimidating but actually toothless legal letters that Dowson has been sending out to anyone who dares to disagree with him. I also took a particularly keen interest in the way that the Biffers continue to misrepresent the news to suit their own, bloodthirsty agenda.

Whilst we were in York we climbed the steep stone steps up to Clifford’s Tower, the site of one of medieval England’s most notorious Jew massacres. It happened in the late 1100s, partly as a result of the ‘Blood libel’ in which Jews were accused of a range of crimes from poisoning wells to the ritual murder of Christian children. Of course, the hapless Jews were quite innocent but that didn’t stop the uneducated, medieval Christian mob from butchering them.

Hubby and I were talking about that awful York massacre when this EBF meme appeared on my phone. It really is remarkable how similar the medieval blood libel is to the modern Islamophobic libel perpetrated by far right, neo-Nazi groups like Britain First. Their not so subtle rewording of the original Huff Post article may be predictable but it’s also dangerous and incredibly dishonest. Nothing new there then!

BF EBF anti semitic hate crime huff post misrepresentation

The bigots at Biffer Towers love to accuse British Muslims of any crimes they can think of – even when they have no evidence for Muslim involvement at all. We’re sorry to have to break it to Folding Golding and his sidekick Dutchy Fransen but ‘wanting it to be true’ doesn’t constitute evidence of actual guilt in any proper (kangaroo free) court. We know that the burden of proof requirement inside Biffer Towers is a bit different but in the real world telling lies to the judge doesn’t really work. But of course, they already know that. The not so dynamic Biffer duo learned that lesson when they picked up their recent High Court injunction.

We think it’s very interesting that whilst they’ll happily blame British Muslims for all sorts of henious crimes, including paedophilia and murder

BF Muslim grooming brochure 1

They don’t seem too keen to comment when the culprit turns out to be one of their own white, neo-Nazi, paedophiles. We’d have thought they’d at least issue some sort of retraction or apology for claiming this poor little girl was murdered by Muslims. That’d be the decent thing to do, wouldn’t it?

Britain First hasn’t said a single word about this white, non-Muslim, neo-Nazi’s conviction.

Why do you think that might be?

  1. Jew-hatred? It’s in the Koran. It’s routinely preached by many imans and leaders of Muslim countries around the world. Is this ‘a minority of extremist Muslims’ misinterpreting their scriptures again?

2:65 Allah transforms disobedient Jews into apes

“And well you know there were those among you [Jews] that transgressed the Sabbath, and We said to them, ‘Be you apes, miserably slinking!’

3:110-112 Muslims are the best of people, Jews have earned Allah’s anger

“You are the best nation ever brought forth to men, bidding to honour, and forbidding dishonour, and believing in Allah. Had the People of the Book believed, it were better for them; some of them are believers, but the most of them are ungodly. They will not harm you, except a little hurt; and if they fight with you, they will turn on you their backs; then they will not be helped. Abasement shall be pitched on them, wherever they are come upon, except they be in a bond of Allah, and a bond of the people; they will be laden with the burden of Allah’s anger, and poverty shall be pitched on them; that, because they disbelieved in Allah’s signs, and slew the Prophets without right; that, for that they acted rebelliously and were transgressors.”

4:160 Jews do evil, turn people away from Allah

“And for the evildoing of those of Jewry, We have forbidden them certain good things that were permitted to them, and for their barring from Allah’s way many…”

5:41 Jews listen to falsehood and pervert the meaning of their Scriptures

“O Messenger, let them not grieve thee that vie with one another in unbelief, such men as say with their mouths ‘We believe’ but their hearts believe not; and the Jews who listen to falsehood, listen to other folk, who have not come to thee, perverting words from their meanings, saying, ‘If you are given this, then take it; if you are not given it, beware!’ Whomsoever Allah desires to try, thou canst not avail him anything with Allah. Those are they whose hearts Allah desired not to purify; for them is degradation in this world; and in the world to come awaits them a mighty chastisement.”

5:51 Don’t take Jews and Christians as friends and allies

“O believers, take not Jews and Christians as friends; they are friends of each other. Whoso of you makes them his friends is one of them. Allah guides not the people of the evildoers.”

5:59-60 Jews cursed, made into apes and swine

“Say: ‘People of the Book, do you blame us for any other cause than that we believe in Allah, and what has been sent down to us, and what was sent down before, and that most of you are ungodly?’ Say: ‘Shall I tell you of a recompense with Allah, worse than that? Whomsoever Allah has cursed, and with whom He is wroth, and made some of them apes and swine, and worshippers of idols — they are worse situated, and have gone further astray from the right way.’”

    5:64 Jews accursed

“The Jews have said, ‘Allah’s hand is fettered.’ Fettered are their hands, and they are cursed for what they have said. Nay, but His hands are outspread; He expends how He will. And what has been sent down to thee from thy Lord will surely increase many of them in insolence and unbelief; and We have cast between them enmity and hatred, till the Day of Resurrection. As often as they light a fire for war, Allah will extinguish it. They hasten about the earth, to do corruption there; and Allah loves not the workers of corruption.”

5:82 Jews most hostile to the Muslims

“Thou wilt surely find the most hostile of men to the believers are the Jews and the idolaters; and thou wilt surely find the nearest of them in love to the believers are those who say ‘We are Christians’; that, because some of them are priests and monks, and they wax not proud.”

6:91 Jews deny, conceal divine revelations

“They measured not Allah with His true measure when they said, ‘Allah has not sent down aught on any mortal.’ Say: ‘Who sent down the Book that Moses brought as a light and a guidance to men? You put it into parchments, revealing them, and hiding much; and you were taught that you knew not, you and your fathers.’ Say: ‘Allah.’ Then leave them alone, playing their game of plunging.”

    6:146 Jews insolent

“And to those of Jewry We have forbidden every beast with claws; and of oxen and sheep We have forbidden them the fat of them, save what their backs carry, or their entrails, or what is mingled with bone; that We recompensed them for their insolence; surely We speak truly.”

    7:166 Jews are apes

“And when they [Jews] turned in disdain from that forbidding We said to them, ‘Be you apes, miserably slinking!’”

    • The problem with trotting out these quotations is that the context is always ignored. This stuff comes from a time when there was very real conflict and the small Muslim community was struggling to survive. It’s as silly to equate this with modern British Muslims as it is to hold modern British Christians responsible for the brutality contained within Leviticus.

Biffers are creating conflict where none exists. Even if they were correct though (& I’m convinced they’re not) it’s hard to see how their antics could do anything but imflame the situation.

  2. I agree that these incitements to Jew-hatred should be seen in the context of a 7th century Arabian fairy tale, and have no relevance in the modern world. All believing Muslims however hold the Koran to be perfect and unchangable, as it states itself. To say otherwise would be apostacy. The problem is that many, if not a majority, of Muslims take the Jew hatred of the Koran as applicable in the 21st century, along with many other 7th century Koranic Arabic and tribal practices such as FGM, stoning adulterers, blasphemers and apostates.

You must surely be aware, unless you are seriously deluded, that Arabs and Muslims hate Jews with a passion. The statistcs bear this out, if you simply go and look for them.

‘A major annual study of worldwide anti-Semitic incidents points to a dramatic rise in anti-Semitism in 2009, with particularly steep jumps in Western Europe and Canada.

After two years of decline in anti-Jewish attacks in many parts of the world, the past year saw “coordinated and preplanned attacks on Jews” alongside “violent incidents and a [violent] atmosphere that feed on each other,” according to Prof. Dina Porat, editor of the “Anti-Semitism Worldwide 2009” report.

… Most violent attacks in Western Europe came from people of Arab or Muslim heritage, the report found…

The annual study is conducted by the Stephen Roth Institute for the Study of Contemporary Anti-Semitism and Racism at Tel Aviv University.’

Muslum hatred of Jews is an undeniable fact, however many anecdotal tales you may find of *individual* Muslims behaving well towards Jews.

Your blog would have much more chance of being taken seriously if you did not mix fact with fiction.

            • Just what percentage of British Muslims want sharia? I’d appreciate it very much if you’d supply some evidence for your claims about “a majority, as shown in numerous polls”.

              • According to a 2006 ICM poll quoted in the Telegraph, link below, 40% of ‘British’ Muslims admitted that they want to see sharia in the UK – that is, the death penalty for homosexuality, adultery, ‘blasphemy’ and leaving Islam; cutting hands off thieves and lashings for consuming alcohol, for both Muslims and non-Muslims; sharia applies to all, not just Muslims. You can see sharia in action in Islamic State, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Pakistan, Iraq, Afghanistan and many other failed states (“only” 20% had sympathy for the 7/7 terrorists). Admittedly that’s not quite a majority, but pretty damn close, so apologies for being 11% out in my assertion.

                http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/1510866/Poll-reveals-40pc-of-Muslims-want-sharia-law-in-UK.html

A very large majority of non-Muslim British people rightly regard the prospect of sharia in the UK with horror. It is absolutely necessary for people to stand up to this totalitarian ideological system, far, far worse than socialism or National Socialism, with street demonstrations.

The BBC poll you quote below shows 27% of ‘British’ Muslims (around 1 million) having sympathy for the Charlie Hebdo terrorists; 45% (around 1.35 million) believe that Muslim clerics preaching that violence against the west can be justified are in touch with mainstream Muslim opinion.

For those who believe in the UN Universal Declaration of Human Rights, such statistics are extremely concerning.

EDFBlogger, do you believe in the UN Universal Declaration of Human Rights? Do you find such statistics extremely concerning?

                • From the same article…

“The ICM opinion poll also indicates that a fifth have sympathy with the “feelings and motives” of the suicide bombers who attacked London last July 7, killing 52 people, although 99 per cent thought the bombers were wrong to carry out the atrocity.”

“Overall, the findings depict a Muslim community becoming more radical and feeling more alienated from mainstream society, even though 91 per cent still say they feel loyal to Britain.”

And you accused me of being intellectually lazy. Didn’t you think reproducing those quotes from this 9 year old article were worth the effort in the interests of intellectual rigour?

You seem to have confused ‘sympathy’ with the feelings and motives’ with ‘agreement’. Now that really is intellectual laziness.

It’s also interesting that you choose to add your own account of the meaning of Sharia. Whilst the parts of Sharia you quote are accurate (& to my mind just as Barbaric as the other 2 major religious law codes) it’s not necessarily what the respondents had in mind when they answered. Sharia is much more than the barbarism you highlighted.

Personally I’d oppose any religious law code but I can understand why, in the context of the time, and since neither of us actually know the questions asked (only the torygraph’s version) a community that was being increasingly singled out by far right groups might respond as it did back in 2006.

The article also states the government intention to tackle the alienation of British Muslims. Perhaps that’s why the much more recent poll I quoted earlier shows a different picture.

Of course, without Britain First working so hard to alienate Muslims that alienation would be even less of a problem than it currently is. I’m sure you don’t support Britain First since you clearly advocate freedom of speech and have stated that you oppose fascism, totalitarianism and bullying. So I wonder why a blogger who opposes these things, who quotes the Edmund Burke maxim above and who is commited to intellectual rigour would seem to be supporting these tin pot Nazis.

            • This is interesting (the headline is misleading as the word ‘endorse’ simply seems to refer to peoples speculation about others opinion – perception of mainstream). The poll itself shows that actual mainstream Muslim opinion is far less likely to endorse hate preachers. Unlike the far right who thrive on hate speech.

              • Sorry, that should of course have been ‘EBFBlogger’.

                Hate speech?

The term ‘Hate speech’ is a nefarious linguistic device used to censor free speech. I hate ignorance, slavery, bullying, injustice, and totalitarianism. That means that I hate political and ideological systems such as communism, socialism, oligarchy, National Socialism, fascism, Juche (N Korea) and Islam. It also means that I hate those evil people who propogate such systems such as Marx, Engels, Stalin, Hitler, Pol Pot, Kim I/II/III, Mohammed and all his caliphs etc etc etc. That does not mean that I wake up every morning and start meditating on things and people that I hate. On the contrary, the meaning of life is to develop love of God and love of people, creatures and our beautiful world. I wake up and meditate on love. Demons such as those I have listed however deserve to be hated, and indeed killed. As Edmond Burke said, “All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing.”

So to bandy about terms like ‘Hate speech’ shows only that you are intellectually lazy and wish to shut up your opponent rather than honestly debating. I could easily accuse you of ‘hate speech’ towards British First. You do use hate speech against the organisation and its members, leaders and supporters. In fact we could just stand opposite each other accusing each other of ‘hate speech’ until a fist fight broke out. But that would be stupid. You have every right to criticise Britain First, and I’m glad that you do. It is because we live in a free society that you can criticise Britain First. We can criticise anything we like, including Britain First and Islam, and it is important that right remains.

Islam is a backward, misogynist, totalitarian and evil ideology, actively endorsing slavery and bringing ruin to all those lands which have been infected by it. I hate Islam and I hate those who attempt to propogate it, through soft or hard jihad. I have/had very close Muslim friends, and I work towards freeing all Muslims from the slavery of Islam. Is that ‘hate speech’?
