“The people are rallied into a unifying patriotic frenzy over the need to eliminate a perceived common threat or foe: racial , ethnic or religious minorities; liberals; communists; socialists, terrorists, etc.”
This is the third of Britt’s characteristics of fascism. Britain First has made no secret of its identification of enemies. They hate all sorts of people including…
- Muslims (the most common target of Biffer hatred)
- Trade unionists
- Anyone who isn’t white skinned
- Anyone who isn’t heterosexual
- Anyone who isn’t a Christian
- Anyone on benefits
- Anyone who doesn’t agree with them
- Anyone who doesn’t support UKIP
They don’t seem to have thought this stuff through though. More successful fascist regimes were limited in the number of people they targeted, at least at first. Britain First has made a tactical error in advertising their complete agenda of hatred very early in their development. Really they hate everybody and that’s probably one of the reasons why they have such limited ‘on the streets’ support. Unless you’re a white-skinned, Christian, far right nationalist whose parents and grandparents were also born in UK you’re a target.
It’s not the most promising way to attract support in this diverse and tolerant society. It gets even sillier when we realise that Jayda “Dutchy” Fransen is herself descended from recent immigrants (and possibly Jews).
Biffers were never noted for their intelligence!
