Identification of Enemies/Scapegoats as a Unifying Cause

“The people are rallied into a unifying patriotic frenzy over the need to eliminate a perceived common threat or foe: racial , ethnic or religious minorities; liberals; communists; socialists, terrorists, etc.”

This is the third of Britt’s characteristics of fascism. Britain First has made no secret of its identification of enemies. They hate all sorts of people including…

  • Muslims (the most common target of Biffer hatred)
  • Trade unionists
  • Immigrants
  • Anyone who isn’t white skinned
  • Anyone who isn’t heterosexual
  • Anyone who isn’t a Christian
  • Anyone on benefits
  • Anyone who doesn’t agree with them
  • Anyone who doesn’t support UKIP

Fascist BF 3

They don’t seem to have thought this stuff through though. More successful fascist regimes were limited in the number of people they targeted, at least at first. Britain First has made a tactical error in advertising their complete agenda of hatred very early in their development. Really they hate everybody and that’s probably one of the reasons why they have such limited ‘on the streets’ support. Unless you’re a white-skinned, Christian, far right nationalist whose parents and grandparents were also born in UK you’re a target.

It’s not the most promising way to attract support in this diverse and tolerant society. It gets even sillier when we realise that Jayda “Dutchy” Fransen is herself descended from recent immigrants (and possibly Jews).

Biffers were never noted for their intelligence!

  1. ebfblogger, I believe that I have already in one of my posts brought to your attention an organisation called Liberty GB whose leader is another Paul-Weston. To my mind it is a better educated up-market version of BF but extremely right-wing and highly critical of Islam and muslims and could certainly be considered fascist..I just thought that you should know although you probably may do?

I posted this comment as I felt that it is pertinent to your blog.

  2. ebfblogger, without any wish or intention of doing to death what is going on in Paris and in very many other towns and cities in France I consider that the muslims in these reports are,in fact, the enemies of all French citizens including moderate muslims. Going against the secular laws of a democracy to the extent they have provides food and drink to the Front National and will only further Marine Le Pen’s ambition to become Prime Minister and enact punitive laws which would only increase the likelihood of a backlash from the “immoderates”. As you would have seen from the video I referred to there is already a very large backlash from extremely angry non-muslims. Eventually, it is likely to come to the attention of BF and you know what fun they would have with it!

One last point. I do not like the tag of “moderate” muslims because it really is not viable. It is invariably used to denote a muslim who is different from those like Anjem Choudary. Really a more accurate expression would be “non-orthodox”.

  3. ebfblogger, I quite failed to mention possibly the major problem posed by Islam in that its ideology personified in the Qur’an does not recognise democracy as a form of government. France contains more muslims from ORTHODOX Islamic regimes ruling by Shari’a than any other European country and this is an almost insuperable problem for the French government to deal with and ALL other democracies!
“Islam has never favoured democratic tendencies” Snouck Hurgronje,Muslim scholar. “The Democratic system that is predominant in the world is not a suitable system for the peoples of our region….The system of free elections is not suitable to our country.” King Fahd of Saudi Arabia(some time ago)

It has always been a moot point as to why so many muslims emigrate to countries which are democracies. Some scholars on Islam suggest it is a form of stealth Jihad..
